Quang Tri: Increase the practicality of domestic waste management

Aware of environmental preservation and critical concerns, Quang Tri province has adopted several waste management solutions in recent years, resulting in favourable outcomes that contribute to the province's long-term socio-economic growth.

Mr. Ha Sy Dong - Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, said: Currently, the implementation of establishing a domestic solid waste collection and treatment system in the entire province is very effective, in urban areas reaching 90%, in rural areas reaching over 60%. All cities, districts, towns, and 10 administrative units in the area have hygienic landfills and invest in domestic waste incinerators.

To achieve its set goals, the province has recently published detailed programs and action plans that are tailored to the local practical situation based on national policies and orientations.

In particular, the province has planned socio-economic growth from 2021 to 2030, with the target of 2050 for domestic waste collection and treatment, as well as plans for separating waste at the source and improvement. The quality of the domestic waste treatment system, as well as plastic trash.

The province has also implemented a number of effective models for collecting, treating, recycling, and limiting plastic waste, such as the model for combating plastic waste on Con Co Island and the model for limiting the use of plastic bags.
