XThe Kim Binh Commune People's Committee has implemented many positive and practical solutions, including maintaining and promoting the collection of pesticide packaging after use in the area, which is given special attention by the locality. This helps to ensure environmental cleanliness, safeguard people's health, and create green, clean, and beautiful landscapes in new rural regions.
The People's Committee of Kim Binh commune got help from Tuyen Quang province's Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection in 2012 under the plan "Propaganda and collection, treatment, and destruction of waste from bottles and pesticide packaging." Actively engage in pesticide package collection at designated locations.
The Women's Union of Khuan Nhu village, Kim Binh commune, collects and segregates pesticide packages after use in the area.
In Dong Cot and Khuan Nhu villages, 02 warehouses with roofs and securely closed doors have already been erected in Kim Binh commune. The commune has 65 storage tanks, all of which are conveniently positioned along the main highways going to the fields, making it easy for people to dispose of empty pesticide bottles and shells throughout the process.
Furthermore, sociopolitical groups and associations create propaganda and mobilise union members, members, and the general public to prevent waste and animal corpses from being dumped in ponds, lakes, and canals. They also encourage individuals to gather and dispose of waste responsibly. Each year, the commune collects and transfers roughly 250 kg to the storehouse.
At the end of 2022, approximately 350 kg of old pesticide packaging waste had been collected; over 36 tons of home rubbish had been brought to the district for burial... As a result, the environmental sanitation situation in Kim Binh commune has substantially improved, and the countryside's appearance has grown cleaner and more attractive. Pesticide waste collecting has become a habit in the commune's residents' everyday life.
In addition to the results obtained, some members of the commune abused pesticides, used pesticides in violation of the four correct principles, and arbitrarily mixed many types of pesticides, spraying herbicides and pesticides at the water source, failing to comply with the quarantine period, causing food insecurity, environmental pollution, and affecting human health. As per the Standards on Hazardous Waste - Warning signs, the majority of field tanks lack the phrases "Tank containing pesticide packaging after use" or the hazard warning symbol. The current amount of collected garbage is still held in village tanks rather than being transferred to warehouses for preservation. Regarding residential garbage, homes along National Highway 2C, comprising 230 families, 04 school units, and 01 general clinic, are required to deliver the rubbish to a centralised place but have yet to classify the waste before sending it to a landfill.
The collection and treatment of pesticide packaging benefits not only the environment but also the health of farmers and residents in agricultural regions, as well as the quality of water supplies. Reduce soil and air pollution and shift to producing agricultural goods that satisfy higher safety requirements. In the future, Kim Binh commune will continue to push propaganda and enhance farmers' environmental consciousness, therefore contributing to scientific agricultural production and increasing people's quality of life. People are working to improve the criteria for creating new rural regions.
