Develop a Sustainable Pesticide Management framework.

The Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development-MARD) and CropLife Association Asia have agreed to work together to implement the Sustainable Pesticide Management Framework program for 2023-2028.

The sustainable pesticide management framework is one of CropLife International's essential operational programs globally, with priority implementation in several countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The program's vision is to create conditions for farmers to access the best technologies and most effective and sustainable farming methods and promote cooperation and partnerships with stakeholders in the value chain.

The signing ceremony occurred on the afternoon of July 11, witnessed by MARD Deputy Mr Hoang Trung and CropLife Asia CEO Tan Siang Hee.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding, CropLife will maximise the industry's efforts and strengthen cooperation with many partners in Vietnam to promote the implementation of a framework for the use and management of sustainable plant protection solutions in parallel with Accelerating the process of applying scientific innovation in agriculture.

This program demonstrates CropLife's commitment to supporting the Government and MARD of Vietnam in transitioning to more sustainable food and environmental systems to protect health. People, the environment and improving the quality of agricultural products.

Mr Alexander Berkovskiy, President of CropLife Association Asia, shared: "Towards the common goal of growing output in a more sustainable way, we always focus on the role of farmers. They are the "brothers".

Agricultural heroes" are the driving force behind the goals of ensuring food security and sustainable development. Our responsibility is to equip them with the necessary tools supported by science and technology to perform their role".

During the signing ceremony, MARD Deputy Mr. Hoang Trung expressed his appreciation for CropLife's recent contributions to Vietnam. CropLife Association's ideas on expanding collaboration, providing plant protection goods and enhanced crop types, and encouraging programs to guide people in the responsible use of these solutions accord with the CropLife Association's needs. MARD's general aims and approaches are to enhance the efficiency of management operations for a safe, transparent, and sustainable food system.

According to Mr Tan Siang Hee, CEO of CropLife Asia, "the biggest challenge for Vietnamese farmers today is to produce enough safe and quality food sources using economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable farming methods." We anticipate that the SPMF initiative would assist Vietnam in realising its plan to achieve food system reform while successfully preserving farmer livelihoods."

The Sustainable Pesticide Management Framework Cooperation Program for 2023-2028 will be executed thoroughly to facilitate the systematic transformation of agricultural products. Manage and apply long-term plant protection solutions; Encourage all parties to criticise policies and provide creative solutions to newly appearing problems within the Plant Protection Department's management sector.

As per Dr. Huynh Tan Dat, Deputy Director of the Food Protection Department, this cooperative mechanism would maximise industry efforts and foster cooperation to adopt, manage, and sustainably employ security solutions.

Plants contribute to the shared aim of responsible agriculture, combining diverse values, assuring food safety, and maintaining ecological systems.
