Quang Ninh: Implementing solutions to manage fertilisers and pesticides!

Recently, the Agricultural Sector and Localities in Quang Ninh province have synchronously deployed solutions and inspected these products on the market.

Pesticide state management is implemented in three components: business management, usage management, and pesticide packing collection. In 2022, the Agriculture and Rural Development Department conducted 15 inspections and checks to ensure that legal laws were followed in agricultural production and distribution. Inspections revealed that the majority of enterprises met the standards for doing business, trading fertilisers and pesticides, and maintaining food cleanliness and safety.

However, a few establishments still need to comply with the regulations on trading and selling fertilisers and pesticides (price listings need to be completed and precise); the delegation has reminded the establishments that they must correct the above violations immediately.

Furthermore, to preserve the rural environment from agricultural production operations, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development works with the province's departments, branches, and municipalities to improve the direction and implementation of packaging collection and disposal. Pesticide packs are used in productive agricultural regions.

Currently, the province has 4,628 tanks and 07 storage locations for spent pesticide packages. In 2022, the volume of post-use pesticide packaging collected was 10,800 kg (of which 3,640 kg has been processed; the volume of post-use pesticide packages has been collected in tanks, and the storage area awaiting disposal is 7,160kg).

Representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: To continue to carry out state management of fertilisers, pesticides and agriculture production facilities for promptness, the Department will continue to issue guiding documents on management work. Besides, strengthen propaganda and implementation of the Law on Plant Protection and Quarantine and the Law on Crop Production; Documents related to Management, plant varieties, fertilisers, and pesticides; instruct farmers to use pesticides according to the "4 rights" principle to achieve high prevention efficiency and safety for people, animals and the environment.

In addition, the Department also promotes unexpected inspections if there are signs of violation of compliance with regulations on fertiliser and pesticide management for organisations and individuals participating in advertising activities, fertiliser business, trading, transportation, storage and use of pesticides in the province.

To meet the needs of crop production activities in the area, along with tightening the Management of functional agencies, farmers should gradually change methods, replacing pesticides with chemical products.
