Under the Law, the collection and handling of pesticide packaging after use must follow the rules of the Plant Protection and Quarantine Law as well as hazardous waste management standards. The law's negative impact on environmental protection. Pesticide packets must be collected and stored in the container after use.

Requirement of container:

First of all, install it in prominent places such as roadsides, intra-field traffic routes, and broad field banks (not flooded) where pesticides are prepared before spraying. This will make it easier to collect pesticide packets after use. There is little impact on domestic water sources, residential areas, transit, or rural vistas.

Second, it is made of durable material, resistant to corrosion, does not leak, and does not react chemically with the waste contained inside. It is waterproof and does not absorb waste from the outside. Make sure it is not moved by wind or water.

Third, the tank has a tubular or rectangular shape that is suited for its location and allows for easy movement. The tank has a capacity of about 0.5 - 01 m3 and a tight cover. The tank lid is vital, not movable by wind or rain, and at least 5 cm broader than the tank wall to prevent rainwater from entering. A tiny window near the lid on the tank's vertical wall may be opened and closed. The tank is at the proper height to prevent flood water from flooding inside.

Fourth, on the outside of the tank are written the words "Container of pesticide packages after use" and a dangerous warning symbol by Vietnam Standard TCVN 6707:2009 on Hazardous Waste - Warning signs.

Fifth, depending on crop features and chemical level, the quantity of containers must guarantee that all pesticide packages are stored. However, there must be at least one container every 03 hectares of land for annual crops and ten hectares of land for permanent crops employing pesticides.

After use, pesticide packages are collected and stored in containers for transport and treatment. In case of necessity, an area can be built to store pesticide packages.

The requirements of storage area:

To ensure a safe storage space, it should be located away from residential areas, water supplies, markets, hospitals, and schools and meet all environmental criteria. The space should be closed, non-odorous, have a foundation height to prevent floods, and have a roof to protect the area from sun and rain. The compartment should be made of non-flammable materials, minimise direct wind, and have a groove to collect liquid into a utility hole for safety. The floor and utility openings should be dry.

Second, outside the storage area, write the words "Storage area for used pesticide packages (name of locality)" and a danger warning symbol under Vietnam Standard TCVN 6707:2009 on waste. Danger - Warning signs.

Thirdly, pesticide packaging after use in the containment area is carefully packaged in specialised packaging that is capable of resisting impact, corrosion, not rusting, not reacting chemically with the chemical contained inside, capable of resisting penetration or osmosis, and leakage; it must be stacked away from the surrounding walls of the containment area at least 50 cm, not exceeding 300 cm in height, have a straight central passage and at least 150 cm in width.

Fourth, please don't drop or disperse used pesticide packages during the process of gathering from tanks to storage areas.

For transportation and handling of pesticide packaging after use:

First, used pesticide packages are removed from the tank or storage area and brought to the processing facility under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment's Circular No. 36/2015/TT-BTNMT issued June 30, 2015.

Second, used pesticide packages stored in containers or storage areas must be transported for treatment within 12 months.

Third, pesticide packaging after use in the container or storage area must be transferred to a unit with appropriate functions and capacity for treatment under the Regulations on Hazardous Waste Management.
