The HCMC People's Committee has released a plan to celebrate the National Week of Safe Water and Environmental Sanitation in the region in 2024 by planning and executing events aimed at increasing community awareness of the significance of environmental sanitation and safe water.
According to the above plan, from April 29 to May 6, the organisation will launch and carry out activities in response to the National Week of Safe Water and Environmental Sanitation in the city in 2024 and extend the World Environment Day (June 5). These activities can be integrated with activities of significant holidays, April 30 and May 1, or local festivals.
HCMC People's Committee requested that it be implemented in Thu Duc the city and at departments, branches, associations and unions.
HCMC plans to deploy and respond to the National Week of Safe Water and Environmental Sanitation.
Organise the "Eat Cooked, Drink Boiled" movement, use clean water in daily life, and raise awareness of saving and protecting water sources. Along with that, general hygiene in the community must be maintained, and waste must be treated before releasing it into the environment.
Launching the green, clean, and beautiful Sunday movement in neighbourhoods and hamlets: cleaning streets, clearing sewers, disposing of trash in the right places, and preventing diseases spread by flies and mosquitoes such as dengue fever blood, zika, acute diarrhoea.
HCMC People's Committee proposed mobilising people to build, repair, and use hygienic latrines under regulations, pushing to eliminate toilets on lakes, ponds, and canals. Stimulates and encourages the community to practice solutions to reduce, reuse, and recycle in sustainable production and consumption, sorting waste at source immediately upon generation, and other solutions to treat at the source (composting) to limit the amount.
In addition, good content and models in environmental protection are propagated in many diverse and vibrant forms: broadcasting on television, printing banners, hoardings, posters, slogans, and hats with slogans. Propaganda signs... to all classes of people in the city and organise the movement "Tree planting in eternal gratitude to Uncle Ho" in each family, neighbourhood, and hamlet; communes, wards, towns...
Regulations on pesticide packaging should also be followed while collecting and treating pesticides. Promote the building of waste treatment facilities (biogas tanks, biological buffers, sedimentation pits, etc.) to handle waste from animal husbandry, create artisan communities, and transition agriculture's output to cleaner products.
HCMC People's Committee requires heads of departments, branches, and the chairman of Thu Duc City People's Committee and districts, wards - communes - and towns to develop specific plans and content suitable to the characteristics of the situation. Units and localities to deploy and report implementation results before July 1.
