Ho Chi Minh City: Environmental standards for new rural construction

The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has issued a Deployment Plan to implement the Programme to strengthen environmental protection, food security, and clean water supply to construct new rural on HCMC territory for 2021-2025. 

The plan sets specific targets for environmental protection by 2025. Consequently, at least 70% of rural households implement waste classification solutions at source, with a minimum of  98% of solid waste being collected and disposed of;

Over half of rural homes have sewage that is collected and treated using suitable, effective procedures. 50% of district-level entities have implemented a decentralized wastewater collection and treatment approach by cluster or by suitable, effective area;

80% of animal waste and agricultural byproducts must be collected, repurposed, and recycled into ecologically beneficial materials, fuels, and goods;

After usage, 100% plant protection packaging is collected and handled following the requirements;

Traditional communities' solid waste and wastewater are collected and handled under rules;

At least 35% of the districts have plans to improve the quality of the public surface water environment or models to construct or develop the landscape of ponds and canals

To assure food safety, we have 100% production facilities, competent fisheries, and farm enterprises; Food hygiene networks are self-governing in 80% of communities;

To assure standards, medical stations with sanitary complexes were created and operated in 100% of rural homes and 100% of schools
