The origin of the Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20.

Phụ nữ Việt Nam

On October 20, 1930, the Vietnam Women's Anti-Imperialist League (renamed the Union of Vietnam Women) was officially founded. To mark this event, the Communist Party of Vietnam has decided to choose October 20 every year as the traditional day for Vietnamese women. It is also a day to celebrate and honor Vietnamese women, taking the name "Vietnam Women's Day".

Throughout our country's long history, Vietnamese women have been asserting an important position in the cause of national defense, construction, and development.

When the Indochinese Communist Party was founded, the first party platform addressed gender equality. This meant that women also became an important force in the revolution with the mission that the Party must liberate women, linked to the mission of national liberation and the liberation of the classes.

Vietnam Women's Day is a day to honor Vietnamese women

October 20 was chosen as Vietnam Women's Day to show the importance of the Party and the whole society to the role and important contribution of Vietnamese women.

Meaning of Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20

Vietnam Women's Day on 20 October is the day when for the first time in the country's history, a separate organization for women is legally and publicly operated, aimed at encouraging women to contribute positively to the revolutionary cause. This was also the day when for the first time, Vietnamese women were able to vote, participate in government and social work, and hold many important positions in the State apparatus.

In the liberation of the country, Vietnamese women were not only the strong rear, giving the country excellent husbands and children, but they were also strong fighters and brave men on the front lines.

In peacetime, Vietnamese women have made important contributions to the country's development, as Uncle Ho once said: "Vietnamese embroidery is made by Vietnamese women, both young and old, who weave beautiful, brilliant embroidery".

Vietnam Women's Day is celebrated annually on October 20 as a day for the country and society to recognize and honor the enormous contributions of women, mothers, sisters, and children - Vietnamese women who deserve the eight golden words: "Hero, unforgettable, middle-class, brave".

October 20th is also an opportunity for men to express their affection, sending love in meaningful gifts to mothers, wives, and daughters...
