On November 9, 1998, the Insee Hon Chong Cement Factory was opened and began operations. Throughout its operation, Insee Hon Chong Cement Factory employs sophisticated technologies and initiatives to assist optimize and conserve energy consumption.

Since the beginning of the project, the firm has used a vertical cement mill (VRM-Vertical Roller and Mild) to reduce energy usage. Vertical cement mills have helped minimize energy consumption by requiring high maintenance and operational abilities from raw material processing to monitoring energy usage and product quality. It is approximately 20% less than with roller and ball mill compression technology.

The plant generates electricity from waste heat recovery during production, reducing the need for energy from the national grid. This electricity meets 25% of the plant's electricity demand, providing electricity for 18,000 households and indirectly saving about 25,000 tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to 9,300 tons of coal per year.

Insee Vietnam's Ecocycle brand, formerly Geocycle, has been in operation since October 2004. The Hon Chong Cement factory, with an investment capital of 12 million USD, has significantly reduced the use of traditional non-renewable fuels like coal and oil through waste co-processing technology. The heat substitution rate of waste co-processing is currently nearly 30% per year, with a target of 33% by 2024.

To date, Insee Ecocycle has provided a Co-processing Solution in cement kilns to treat over 1,200,000 tons of waste safely, helping to reduce more than 1,000,000 tons of CO2 greenhouse gas emissions.

Hon Chong Cement Factory is implementing energy-saving measures and the Law on Economical and Efficient energy use. The board of directors and management board are focused on ensuring proper operation of energy-using equipment systems and addressing energy-saving issues. They conduct annual energy reports and audits, apply an energy management system according to ISO 50001 standards, install equipment to monitor electrical parameters and power consumption, inspect lighting systems, and replace old equipment with new ones. They also regularly maintain and service compressed air leaks and replace old air conditioners with high-performance models.
